About the Founder
For Arlene R. Mazzotta, a career in the staffing industry wasn’t necessarily what she envisioned when she returned to the working world in the 1960s, after taking time off to raise a family. You could say it was by chance that she found the path which led to a long, successful career and the creation of one of the most successful employment agencies in Connecticut.
In the 1960s, Arlene was hired by a staffing agency, Ritta Personnel, and the personnel business, as it was called then, just clicked with her. The new job she found herself in was a perfect fit for her personality and natural people skills.
In 1969, with encouragement from her father, Arlene purchased a franchise from Ritta Personnel and opened a two-person office in Middletown, Connecticut. Additional offices were opened in Hamden and New Haven in the early 1970s. In 1975, she sought more family time with her two teenage daughters and decided to sell the Hamden and New Haven offices and focus on the Middletown location.
The Early YearsWhen the Ritta franchise system went out of business in 1983, A.R. Mazzotta Employment Specialists became incorporated as an independent agency. A few years later, Arlene opened the Westbrook office to service Shoreline and Southeastern Connecticut. Arlene’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to personal service shone bright in the late 1980s and early 1990s, as she introduced new services and technologies that greatly benefitted the companies and job seekers she and her team worked with. She soon opened the Wallingford office to better serve clients in Southern and Western CT. All of these new and exciting changes helped A.R. Mazzotta grow and earn its reputation as one of the top staffing agencies in the state.
